Thinking away about what’s important to us
Our name “Thinkaway Learning” puts a lot of pressure on us to think. As a mindful team, we like to engage in a bit of gratitude, so we’ve been thinking a lot lately about the things that are important to us in business.
We think a lot about the importance of:
Our employees: we think that a healthy, diverse, productive workplace is one of the creative products we are most proud of, with such different people weaving the wonderful tapestry of what we do.
We are grateful that everyone in Thinkaway Learning is willing to be responsible for something in the company – it might be to organise a celebration, a meeting, but whatever it is, it helps every single one of us learn the basics of accountability, project management and service.
Our clients: we think about how they are not only our economic lifeblood, but they are also what makes our jobs fun, interesting and fulfilling. Clients are often creative little treasures that surprise us continually – yes, that means in good ways and in (sometimes) surprising ways.
Our communities: we think very much like a regional company – our Worldwide Headquarters are in Yackandandah, Victoria, with a presence in the small town of Melbourne, and we are totally in love with our local communities.
We believe in contributing to regional jobs, and to that end, are developing a bootcamp program that trains instructional designers in the region, raising job opportunities outside of metro areas, as well as in. We are thankful to partner with a wonderful social enterprise company in Wodonga, Assist Partners, part of the AgBiz Assist group, and we think a lot about the help they give us.
Our families: we think about how a healthy home life supports a healthy work life and are thankful for the support we get. It does take a village to do good things and good work.
Our client’s employees: we think about how employees are people, and no matter what their motivation, they want to be engaged in their work. OK, now we’re getting into what excites us about our learning creations: engagement.
We believe that employees learn best when they’re engaged in what they’re learning. They learn best when they learn quickly, and so we think deeply about the time we’re asking them to spend in our learning programs. It’s our responsibility to make the best use of that time, and we think about that a lot.
And we feel grateful for you, and the time you’ve invested to read this.
